Patron Saint of the Impossible
St Jude
Prayer to St. Jude Thaddeus, Apostle and Martyr:
"Dear Jesus, I want to follow you. I want to be your disciple. But I know my weakness and my need of help. May the example of Saint Jude, the forgotten saint, inspire me. May the intercession of Saint Jude, Saint of the Impossible, help me. By the prayers of all the saints, may I obtain the grace to surrender completely to your love for me. Amen."

St. Jude’s Epistle encouraged the early Christians to live lives founded upon faith, love of God, with enthusiastic hope, and prayer while awaiting the mercies of God and the reward of eternal life. He also urged them to practice fraternal charity  “But as for you, beloved, build up yourselves upon your most holy Faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto life everlasting.”.....
Saint Jude Thaddeus was one of the Twelve Apostles, a martyr and a relative of our Savior Jesus Christ. He is called the “Patron Saint of desperate cases” and “Patron Saint of the impossible.” . Saint Jude was martyred for his teaching in Armenia, part of Persia and his feast day is October 28th. Saint Jude is known as the “Optimistic Saint”

"May Jesus, the Son of Mary, the Lord and Redeemer of the world, through the merits and intercession of his Holy Apostle St. Jude, and all his saints, show us favour and mercy."

St. Jude is invoked in desperate situations because his New Testament letter stresses that the faithful should persevere in the environment of harsh, difficult circumstances, just as their fore- fathers had done before them. The fire above his head represents the Holy Spirit; he received at Pentecost with the other apostles. He is usually seen carrying the image of Jesus in his hand or close to his heart.

Prayer in Physical Sickness

"Saint Jude, I have not the strength to pray as I ought. Nothing is able to give me any relief. My courage is faltering; impatience and loneliness are clouding my mind and my heart. Obtain for me Saint Jude, the courage and resignation to accept all these trials from the hand of God with faith and patience. If it is for the good of my soul, grant that I may recover my former health so that I may be of assistance to others... Amen”

"Saint. Jude glorious Apostle, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor has caused you to be forgotten by many, but the church invokes you universally as the Patron of things despaired of; pray for me, who am so miserable; pray for me that finally I may receive the consolations and the succor (Aid) of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings particularly (Here make your request), and that I may bless God with the elect throughout Eternity... Amen"

A Prayer to St. Jude, Apostle and Martyr: “Most holy Apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered the beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many, but the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases, of things despaired of. Pray for me who am so miserable; make use, I implore you, of this particular privilege accorded to you, to bring visible and speedy help, where help is almost despaired. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and support of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, particularly (here make your request), and that I may bless God with you and all the elect forever.

Novena to Saint Jude

"Holy Saint Jude, Apostle and Martyr, Great in virtue and rich in miracles, Near kinsman of Jesus Christ, Faithful intercessor of all Who invoke your special patronage in time of need. To you I have recourse from the depths of my heart And humbly beg to whom God has given such great power To come to my assistance. Help me in my present and urgent petition, In return I promise to make your name known And cause you to be invoked. Saint Jude pray for me and all those who invoke your aid. Amen."
..

Novena Prayers: follow your St. Jude prayer by saying 3 Our Father, 3 Hail Mary, and 3 Gloria prayers. Although not required, people often find that meditating, (informal) and/or some type of fasting during the 9 days provide extra comfort and strength when saying the prayers.

..

Catholics have a tradition of asking the saints to pray to the Lord our God for us! Asking the saints to interceed on our behalf with God is not a substitute for praying to God, whom we acknowledge as the source of everything!
..
The saints have gone through what we ourselves are experiencing now. We ask them to remind God that it was by His grace that they triumphed over life’s difficulties and that we today need that same grace. It is common to encourage others to devotion to Saint Jude and to acknowledge in writing favors received. He is frequently thanked in the personals column of daily newspapers.
